The Olderfleet Bar & Garden Venue
The Olderfleet Bar & Garden Venue began life as “The Olderfleet Hotel” way back in 1878, when it was constructed for sea travellers next to the harbours.
The hotel was later demolished and the public house remained open, owned at one stage by the influential businessman James Chaine, whose name is synonymous with the development of Larne Harbour as a busy port with cross-channel links to Scotland.
Fast forward nearly 150 years and current owners, the McNeill Family, have continued to develop the bar since taking ownership over 30 years ago, transforming it into one of the most exciting go-to spots in the town.
The venue has now been completely revamped, with a fresh new look across the indoor bar, restaurant, garden areas and Coast function room. Today, The Olderfleet offers a modern, welcoming setting for food, drinks, live entertainment and private events, while still keeping its strong connection to Larne’s harbour heritage.
The restaurant specialises in homemade, freshly prepared food, seasonal menus and quality local produce, with modern flavours and a nod to the nearby sea. The kitchen is led by Head Chef Michael Gallagher, who brings a strong focus on fresh ingredients, trusted suppliers and honest, flavour-led cooking.
Lisdergan Meats, Ewings, Keenan Seafoods and Scotts Fruit & Vegetables are among their local suppliers, helping the team create menus that change throughout the four seasons of the year.
The Olderfleet’s continued investment in food, hospitality and customer experience has also been recognised at the Yes Chef Awards, winning Best Gastro Pub in 2023 and Best Outdoor Space in 2024.
The Beer Garden is one of the largest in Co. Antrim, making it the perfect setting for delicious food, cocktails and weekly live entertainment all year round.
