The Cuan Restaurant and Guest House
The Cuan has been a feature of the stunning coastal village of Strangford for more than 30 years. It changed hands in 2020 and underwent extensive renovation and upgrading. It is now a stylish, modern hotel full of character. The designer Suzanne Garuda has given every room a different style and outlook.
Renowned chef Kelan McMichael is at the helm in the kitchen. He makes the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Not surprisingly, being on the coast, he’s a big fan of Marty Johnston’s East Coast Seafoods. He’s also a dab hand at vegan and vegetarian food as well as having an expert knowledge of meat.
Think Chicken Liver Parfait with Piccalilli and Sourdough, Strangford Seafood Pie with Parmesan Crust and Lemon Tart with Crème Fraiche and Raspberries. That will give you the idea of what to expect.
You can eat in the bistro or the dining room or have a snack at the bar. There is a wood-fired oven for pizzas and there are great takeaway options from the Little Wolf. Order online for that. They do all the classics like Burgers, Pizzas, Fish and Chips and Sides. You can also order from the restaurant with the Cuan at Home option.
Check out the overnight and weekend packages so you can book in for dinner and enjoy the breakfast and lunch, too.
