Cuff’s Bar and Grill
Cuff’s is a great name for a restaurant in former jail, don’t you think? Handcuffs and all that. So clever. The kitchen crew are clever, too. Headed up by Damien Blaney, they are dab hands at what they call “gaol grub” like Smokehouse Beef Brisket, the Long Stretch Burger and Sustainable Seafood Pie.
It opened in July 2016 with a mission to “keep it local”. Damien has good relationships with small independent suppliers such as Carnbrooke Meats and Ewings, Belfast’s oldest fishmongers.
You don’t need to go on a tour of the top tourist attraction that is the Crumlin Road Gaol to eat there, but you should visit the gaol if you have never been. You get 10 per cent off in the restaurant, too. This place is for locals and tourists alike, so get your cuffs on and go!
