Former EIPIC Head Chef and Ireland’s only female Michelin starred chef Danni Barry has joined forces with Stephen and Cristina Higginson from the Square Bistro in Lisburn to bring new life to this 18th century traditional stone building. It opened in November 2017 and has already established a strong following.
There are roaring fires and dinner by candlelight just like they had back then but the menu is bang up to date. Local ingredients, often foraged are used as the building blocks for an incredibly edible menu might which includes offerings like Hake, Hispi Cabbage, Jerusalem Artichokes, Roast Bone Sauce and Apple and Almond Tart with Duck Egg Custard.
The menu changes seasonally but you get the idea. Layers of flavour are built up in unexpected combinations that really work. Definitely a must visit!
