The Crepe Makers
They do what they say on the tin- or in the name. The Crepe Makers make fresh sweet and savoury crepes. The product may be French but that doesn’t mean it can’t be locally sourced and produced. The crepe mix is made up of just eggs, flour and milk. They don’t add any salt or sugar. The eggs are from Riverside Eggs. The milk is from Draynes Farm and the flour comes from Andrews Ingredients. They are all within a ten minute drive also keeping the carbon foot print to a minimum.
Each crepe has to be made fresh in front of the customer. This allows them to make them exactly the way the customer wants. They offer good value for money as their crepes are very filling. The extensive menu has something for everyone. You might have Bacon and Maple Syrup or Apple and Cinnamon.
They have lots of experience at festivals large and small all over the place including Electric Picnic, Oxegen, T Vital, Sunflower Fest and Sea Sessions. You can find them at Balmoral Show, sporting events like Ulster Rugby home matches, school fairs, private parties and lots of council run events. They trade at all Belfast City Council’s major events.
Their ingredients are fresh locally sourced where possible. Chicken, cheese and ham are from Pinkertons of Armagh. They also use stalls at local markets like The Cabbage Patch at St George’s market where they pick up fresh tomatoes, onion, rocket, spinach, strawberries and a few other pieces that we might decide to put into a weekly special. They have even had fresh roasted coffee beans supplied by SD Bells coffee company to grind up and put in their Mocha crepe. They constantly look out for local suppliers and producers that might help them create tasty crepes to help them keep a top quality product.
They could easily buy in pre made crepes or use a ready mix which you just add water to and this would be more cost effective as you would be able to buy in bulk and store for a long time and there would be fewer labour costs. They prefer to create a product that they believe in and are proud of. The extra cost in producing this is well worth it as their customers tell them.
Kids portions are available and they try to be as environmentally friendly as possible limiting food waste packaging and chemicals. Try one soon!
