The name of this distillery comes from the nearby town of Ballynahinch. Its name translated from
Irish means “town of the island. There is more than a touch of Celtic spirit at work at this place
where they do a range of whiskeys and gin.
For example, their award-winning Ninth Wave gin is named after a mystical place far beyond the
Irish coast, said to be the home of the Sea god, Mac Lir. These islands, known as the Otherworld are
invisible to the human eye, devoid of sickness and death and a place of eternal youth and beauty.
They are only reached by conquering the Ninth Wave which separates the earthly world from the

restaurant showcasing the best food of County Down from local suppliers including Keenans Seafood
and North Down Fruit and Veg. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner except Monday and Tuesday.
