Mash Direct Croquettes Win Food Innovation Award in London!

Local Comber-based Company, Mash Direct, won a prestigious national award in London yesterday for their Potato, Cheese and Onion Croquettes. The Croquettes picked up The Grocer New Product Award for outstanding innovation and were crowned the winners of the Meal Accompaniments category at a grand awards ceremony held in Mayfair.

Commenting on this achievement, Managing Director of Mash Direct, Martin Hamilton said; “We are over the moon to have been awarded a Grocer New Product Award for our Potato, Cheese and Onion Croquettes. This is a huge accolade, particularly given that we were up against tough competition from well-established brands, such as McCains and Bannisters. Every award is a fantastic achievement and it is a real credit to the truly committed team we have at Mash Direct.

“Our innovative croquettes range, which come in four different varieties, have been a huge hit since we launched them last year and are loved by kids and adults alike. In the last month we have sold more than 100,000 packs of the croquettes in one retailer alone. We use Maris Piper potatoes, which we gently steam-cook and coat in a crispy, golden, gluten-free crumb to create the delicious taste. The idea for the croquettes range stemmed from an informal discussion amongst staff and we are delighted to have the Potato, Cheese and Onion varieties honoured with a Grocer New Product Award.”

This latest award adds to the collection Mash Direct has been accumulating this year to date, including another three Great Taste Awards this year.

Mash Direct’s Potato, Cheese and Onion Croquettes are available in a variety of stores across the UK and Ireland, and were mostly recently included in the 7 product lines launched in 363 Asda stores across the UK.
