New Lease of Life for Irish Cream Innovation Attracts Top UK store
As a result of an innovation by a Newry whiskey blender, shoppers across the UK
are now finding it easier to enjoy delicious Irish Cream Liqueur on-the-the go.
FoodNI member Two Stacks, Ireland’s leading and highly innovative whiskey blender
and bonder, has just launched a seriously high-quality Irish cream into a ready-to-
serve format in a handy can. And the new innovation from Two Stacks, the company
which pioneered the award-winning Dram in a Can Irish whiskey to international
acclaim, is already experiencing great success with the new drink.
The Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur is now in more than 50 WH Smith
stores across the UK. These include some seriously high-footfall locations, London
Waterloo, Heathrow T5 & T2, Euston, King’s Cross, Paddington, Liverpool Street,
Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street… exactly the kind of occasions the
company built Dram In A Can for, according to Shane McCarthy, managing director
of Two Stacks. “This means thousands of travellers are able to purchase our
thoughtfully crafted little 100ml can, packed with proper Irish whiskey cream.
“Back in 2020, we put whiskey into a Dram in a Can format designed for life on the
move. Now we’ve taken that thinking a step further in our Irish Double Cream,” he
continues.
“Our Double Irish Cream is made with significantly more Irish whiskey than the
market norm, because we wanted the whiskey to actually come through. Creamy,
rich and built around the spirit, rather than simply flavoured with it.
“WH Smith is the perfect platform for the next stage of that journey, putting a
premium Irish cream into the hands of people on the move,” adds Shane, founder of
Two Stacks in 2020 with business partners Liam Brogan and Donal MacLynn.
Irish cream, which is recognised as only produced in Ireland, is made by two other
companies in Northern Ireland – Bailey’s, the market leader, is produced largely for
export at Newtownabbey and Killowen in Rostrevor, a developer of the award-
winning Gloria small batch version.
