Northern Ireland’s food reputation is growing. In both 2011 and 2012 Northern Ireland producers won the UK’s Great Taste Supreme Champion, beating off 8,800 other entries – an incredible achievement.  Even more amazingly both came from Moira Village in County Down.

Serious foodies are interested in Northern Ireland’s food story; they recognise that something special is happening, with over 198 Gold Stars awarded to NI producers in 2012 and three Product of Geographic Indication awards people are curious.

Food NI works to tell our food story. From grown here not flown here, to picked here not shipped here, we promote Northern Ireland’s unique food message.

Local producers have the opportunity to nominate their favourite products to be judged by consumers…from Comber potatoes to Veda bread, we want to know what the public think of our iconic foods. The public will be asked to vote via social media and online for their favourites.

The product achieving the highest level of votes will win the FoodNI Peoples Choice Award for 2013.

If you are from a Food NI Member Company, and would like to nominate a product, please email lindsay@nigoodfood.com. Nominations will be accepted until Friday 22nd February.

Voting will take place from Monday 25th February through to Friday 8th March 2013.
