Northern Ireland Good Food is in our Nature, is working in partnership with Antrim Borough Council to help celebrate their recent award of Northern Irelands first Fairtrade Borough.
In order to mark the occasion Antrim Borough Council will be hosting a celebratory event by issue of invitation only, on Friday 3 December in Antrim’s Old Courthouse for all local businesses and community organisations who registered their support of Fairtrade products with the Antrim Borough Fairtrade Community Committee.

A number of high profile guests will be joining Antrim Borough Council on the day including Environment Minister, Edwin Poots, Justice Minister, and previous Chair of the Fairtrade Community Committee, David Ford and local celebrity chef, Niall McKenna.

Niall McKenna, owner of restaurant James St South and Great British Menu star, will deliver an impressive cookery demonstration in partnership with NI Good Food, with recipes created by him especially for the event using both Fairtrade and local produce.

Fairtrade representative, John Daly will be present to formally award the certificate of Northern Ireland’s first Fairtrade Borough to Chair of the Borough Committee, Councillor John Smyth.

Councillor John Smith comments “The award has been the effort of an entire community and we are very proud of what our Borough has achieved.”
