Derry Food Pioneer Takes Stock of New Business Growth
An artisan producer of natural, slow cooked stocks and bone broths in
Londonderry is celebrating two major milestones for an innovation-led and
highly successful food business.
A FoodNI member, Carol’s Stock Market, which was founded around 2017 by
Carol Banahan, a former professional stock trader in Canada, has won
business from Dunnes and Tesco Northern Ireland, two of Ireland’s leading
supermarkets.
Carol, a passionate home cook, set up the small business in Derry on her
return to Ireland from a hugely successful career in Canadian high finance.
She formed Carol’s Stock Market in Derry to build on her love of cooking great
food into a small enterprise which has revived interest in healthy stocks and
bone broths. These include: Free Range Chicken Stock; Beef Stock; Beef Bone
Broth; and Cottage Bone Broth for home cooks to add further nutritious
ingredients to meals.
Bone broth is regarded as being highly nutritious, providing benefits from
collagen, calcium and magnesium to a range of vitamins.
Carol continues: “It’s an exciting time for us and we’ve some great news to
share that will enable more consumers to enjoy our natural products.
“At Carol’s Stock Market, we’re passionate about great food and bringing a
taste of Ireland to every dish in kitchens across Ireland,” adds Carol. We’re
delighted to announce two major milestones in our business involving Dunnes
and Tesco Northern Ireland.
Carol’s Cottage Bone Broth, Beef Stock and Free Range Chicken Stock will
once again be available nationwide under the Dunnes Stores “Simply Better”
range, starting this month.
Alongside this, Dunnes Stores will continue to stock Carol’s Stock Market
products, including: Beef Bone Broth; Vegetable Stock; and Chicken Bone
Broth with Turmeric & Ginger.
Carol’s hugely innovative products will be on Tesco shelves in 29 stores
towards the end of September.
