soon be able to enjoy award-winning protein bars from a family business that began
life in a Belfast gym before winning a Gold award and two Bronzes at the prestigious
UK Quality Food Awards.
The small company’s White Chocolate Peanut Butter and Caramel Protein Bar won
the top Gold prize for its first-ever entry at the awards which attract entries from food
producers, both large and small from across the British Isles.
Formed by the Sloan family, Loada Balls, now one of Northern Ireland’s fastest
growing protein snacks, has linked up with Clearline Distribution in Craigavon to
grow sales of its tasty bars across the British Isles.
Handcrafted at Twin Spires Business Park in west Belfast and made using premium-
quality protein, Loada Balls is positioned as “a convenient, great-tasting option for
active, on-the-go lifestyles”.
The award-winning small business spans three generations of the Sloan family,
according to John, who runs the company with son Johnny and grandfather Curtis. It
developed “after a roaring success at our gym in the city centre, we decided it was
time to share the love with a wider audience”.
The protein bars and balls contain only natural ingredients such as
peanut butter, almond butter, pure honey, coconut and mixed nuts.
“The bars were consumer tested at St. George’s Market, the ‘heartbeat of Belfast’
and the response was beyond our wildest dreams – sales soared, and we earned a
permanent spot at this iconic market, becoming a staple for locals and tourists alike,”
adds John. Products are now stocked across Eurospar, Spar, SuperValu, Centra,
and Mace convenience stores.
