Orchard Acre Farm

County Down where they reared sheep and cattle. Now with her husband she has continued the farming tradition with their own small holding in NW Fermanagh; a stone’s throw from Lough Erne. Fruit, vegetable and herbs are grown and they keep a flock of hens for fresh eggs.

Teresa is a teacher by profession and studied environmental science at the Ulster University. She and her husband share their passion and knowledge about food with guests on a year-round programme of cookery courses and food-related events in the Eco Barn (pictured).

Since they opened the farm as a centre of activity based learning in 2008 it has picked up a string of awards. The whole farm family is involved in the business, as are neighbours working as tutors and in events management.

Guests can see, feel and touch the food growing around them. They can choose to be directly involved in harvesting, get up close to the cooking and of course delight in dining on farm fresh foods. For each individual or groups that visits their food story is transparent from the Plot where it grows to the Plate in front of each guest.

Open to the general public on Tuesday afternoons from St Patricks Day until Halloween for afternoon teas and garden tours. They are interested in supplying to more local restaurants. They currently sell surplus in the summer months to Mahon’s Hotel, Irvinestown.
