Its one thing to win an award one year, another to win it a second, but an outstanding achievement to win it three years in a row. That in fact is what The Cuan in Strangford has done through The Taste of Ulster, independent inspection system scoring 98% in 2010, 99% in 2011 and an amazing 100% in 2012.
The Cuan is owned and managed by Peter and Caroline McErlean, whose commitment to sourcing fresh local food, complemented by outstanding service, has seen The Cuan go from strength to strength.
Peter McErlean, Owner and chef in The Cuan said “We are delighted to come first again in 2012 and even more thrilled to score 100% in our inspection. Caroline and I are committed to giving our customers the finest fresh local produce every time they visit.’
Howard Hastings of the Hastings Group and Chair of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board who was on hand to offer congratulations said,’ Peter and Caroline are a fantastic example of people who go the extra mile in terms of food quality and service, I am delighted to see them achieve this recognition through Taste of Ulster.’
Speaking on behalf of FoodNI Michele Shirlow, Chief Executive said ‘We are thrilled to see The Cuan score 100%, this is the first time anyone has achieved top marks, and to come first three years in a row is amazing! It’s a great reflection that the quality of local restaurants in Northern Ireland is improving right across the board’
