Paper Fig Cafe
Paper Fig has a real holiday feel to it, even if you live and work in Portstewart you will love to chill out at this beautiful place beside the sea.
Owners Richard Brown and Stephen McElwee along with the Paper Fig team take their food and coffees very seriously. They post tasting notes of their single origin coffees on Facebook, which change every 4-6 weeks. They are very passionate about serving great coffee as well as great food, with menus changing 4 times a year to keep customers and themselves excited with all the new ideas. They work closely with their suppliers to develop products that will enhance their menu.
The breakfast menu includes classics such as scrambled eggs on toasted sourdough which you can have with O’Doherty’s Black bacon or North Coast Smokehouse’s smoked salmon or the hearty Breakfast Sandwich with black bacon, pork and apple pattie, Banagher Bold cheese, Cavanagh free-range egg, Ballymaloe relish with rocket in toasted sourdough.
Lunches are just as exciting with Beer-Fed steak sandwich and Moroccan relish or warm flat bread with hummus, pomegranate seeds feta cheese and rocket to name but two items of their tasty menu.
The cake selection has some old favourites with Paper Fig’s own twist to the recipes giving them a Middle Eastern feel such as caraway and carrot cake or lemon and poppy seed cake. The gluten-free choice is a real treat and loved by non-coeliacs as well. It is cardamon and apricot cake with almond syrup and rose water.
Other local suppliers include Broighter Gold, Hillstown farms beer-fed steaks, Suki teas, Dart Mountain’s Banagher Bold cheese, Corndale Farm chorizo and Neary Nog’s hot chocolate.
