North Coast Crabcakes

This is a dish from Mark Begley, The Europa Hotel, showcasing local food on the NITB Signature Kitchen in the Food NI Pavilion at The Balmoral Show 2014

Servings 2 as a main or 4 as a starter-2 small balls each
Main Ingredients
  • Potatoes 200g
  • Crab Meat 100g
  • Prawns Pureed 50g
  • Sweet Chilli 30ml
  • Chopped Red Chilli ¼
  • Limes (Zest & Juice) ½
  • Chopped Coriander 30g
  • Spring Onion 1

Main Instructions
  1. Boil potatoes and mash
  2. Add crab meat and chopped prawns
  3. Add sweet chilli, lemon & lime juice and zest
  4. Add chopped coriander, red chilli and spring onion
  5. Salt and pepper to taste
  6. Shape into small balls
  7. Press though floor, egg wash and panko bread crumbs
  8. Deep fry at 180 degrees and serve with chilli mint jelly.
