WG Buchanan and Son
You will know this company by their more customary name “Buchanans”, as this is the branding you see on their packs in supermarkets. They supply a wide range of cereals, pulses, rice, dried fruit, culinary nuts, seeds, cake decorations. The company is renowned for its iconic Soup Mix – a time honoured favourite for generations of families and still their best-selling product.
This family-owned company has been dealing in wholefoods since 1871 and currently at the helm is the founder William McVeigh’s grandson Jonathan.
Their 25,000 square feet purpose-built facility is in Trooperslane Industrial Estate on the edge of Carrickfergus, Co Antrim. Having their production and warehouse facilities on site along with their head office ensures seamless communication throughout the business.
This is beneficial in a commodity food environment as particularly harsh harvests can impact the nature of the foods that they handle. They work closely with local transport companies to ensure prompt deliveries both inward and outward of their facility, to the benefit of their expanding customer base.
They sell to retailers, wholesalers and foodservice providers throughout Ireland, the U.K and further afield.
