Guru to advise Clandeboye Yoghurt

Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt enlists support of food business entrepreneur and founder of Gü desserts, James Averdieck, to advise on business growth.

Just what do you do with yourself after selling your business for £29 million? Kick back and relax on a tropical beach? Buy a yacht and cruise the Med? Or… you pull on your wellies, roll up your sleeves and hot-foot it to the Clandeboye Estate in Northern Ireland to share your knowledge and passion for business with herd of pedigree cows, their ambitious Lady owner and her delicious range of handmade yoghurts?

Despite his multi-million pound windfall from selling Gü last year, entrepreneur James Averdieck isn’t ready to relax just yet.  Instead he is set to become a frequent visitor to Northern Ireland where he is advising his good friend, Lady Dufferin and her team headed up by Yoghurt Manager Bryan Boggs, on the on-going growth and development of Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt brand.

Averdieck, aka The “Güru”, is a well-known figure in the food business worldwide and perfectly placed to help take Clandeboye’s yoghurt to the next level. From developing exciting new products to in-depth marketing know-how, James Averdieck understands the challenges and opportunities of growing a successful fresh food brand.

Inspired by the delicious desserts he tasted in a small patisserie in Belgium in 2001, the enthusiastic entrepreneur returned to the UK determined to put indulgent premium puddings on supermarket shelves across the country. In 2003 he joined forces with a patisserie and launched Gü – within 12 months his deliciously decadent desserts had become the country’s best ever dinner party cheat. By 2010,Gü sales had reached £30million and attracted interest from Noble Foods who bought the business earlier this year.

Lady Dufferin is delighted to have enlisted the valuable assistance of James Averdieck as she embarks on this important next step in the growth of Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt.

“We’ve been delighted with the success of our yoghurt since we launched in 2007,” explains Lady Dufferin. “Thanks to the distribution deal signed earlier this year with the PRM Group and the continued hard work of everyone at Clandeboye, including our fabulous herd of cows, our yoghurts are now sold and enjoyed across Ireland. We are stocked in Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Spar and numerous independents but we recognise that we need to be continuously innovating and developing new products and ideas to help grow our brand. We are extremely committed and ambitious at Clandeboye, we know we have great cows and a great product. James’ expertise, coupled with a significant re-investment of profits into the business, will mean that we can continue to go from strength to strength.”
