Sandra Weir, Buying Manager for Tesco in Northern Ireland, Nathan Gilmore, farmer, and Joanne Weir, Sales and Marketing Manager from Wilson’s Country inspect the new season Comber potatoes ready to hit Tesco shelves from this Thursday.
Northern Ireland’s new season Comber potatoes have been granted European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, which means that only new season potatoes harvested from fields around Comber in County Down can now be marketed as ‘new season Comber potatoes’ or ‘Comber earlies’.
They are one of only three products from Northern Ireland with this European status.
